THE PHOTOGRAPHERS

Alan Smith (Montego Bay, Jamaica) is a commercial and fine art photographer who explores the possibilities of creative expression through photography. His work is driven by an imaginative approach, using the medium to push beyond what is conventionally expected.

Born in Canada to a Jamaican father and a Canadian mother, Alan spent his formative years in Jamaica, where he developed an early interest in drawing. This led him to study Illustration, Graphic Design, Advertising and Photography at the Alberta College of Art in Canada.

Jamaica was always home, and in his early thirties, he returned to Jamaica, offering his services across both the commercial and fine art markets. Montego Bay is still his home.

Radi Konstantinov

Radi Konstantinov (Montego Bay, Jamaica) is a Bulgarian-Jamaican photographer whose practice is heavily influenced by his travels and multicultural perspective. Currently based in Athens, Greece, his work moves between documentary and conceptual photography, examining shifting relationships between subject and environment. Instead of offering definitive answers, his photographs invite viewers to ask questions.

He holds a BA in Philosophy and Studio Art and an MFA in Photographic Studies from the University of Westminster, London. After beginning his career as an event photographer, Konstantinov spent more than a decade working in the commercial photography industry before turning his focus towards long-form personal projects. His visual approach is informed by classical traditions of painters such as Caravaggio and Rembrandt, as well as the photographic practices of Ansel Adams and August Sander.

THE JOURNEY

In 2025, photographers Alan Smith and Radi Konstatinov walked Jamaica’s historic railway line, covering the 70 mile route on foot from Spanish Town to Port Antonio. Along the way, they documented what remains largely unseen: the landscapes, communities and stories that continue to live and thrive along the line.
